Richard O'Brien (born Richard Smith on March 25 1942) is a stuntman, actor and writer. He is better known for writing a musical theater The Rocky Horror Show and its 1975 film adaptation The Rocky Horror Picture Show. A stage indicate has been inside all but continuous production since, & a cinematic version is arguably a better known cult film of all period. O'Brien wrote a script & songs, & acted in the film. He is also referred to as presenter of The Crystal Maze. He has starred within terminated twenty feature & originated a role of the Infant Catcher in the West End theatre production of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".

O'Brien was innate around Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Within 1952, he emigrated with his personal to Tauranga, New Zealand where his father had purchased the sheep domestic. He returned to England in 1964.

Due to the tremendous profits & cult status The Rocky Horror Picture Show gained, O'Brien tried to recreate the profits by using a continuation, 1981's Shock Treatment. 4 more members of the original film cast appeared by having O'Brien in a newly film, which continued the story of Brad & Janet (played by Cliff de Young and Jessica Harper). It did badly inside theaters & did non attain a cult status of The Rocky Horror Picture Indicate. O'Brien wrote freshly songs for the film, which besides features the uncommon film appearance by Australian actor Barry Humphries (famous for his character Dame Edna Everage).

Within 2004, Hamilton, New Zealand City Council honoured O'Brien's contribution to the arts with the statue inside his likeness.
